My MY99 (Unichip + exhaust)has recently felt a little less frantic than it has before - feels like a few mm's of accelerator travel is missing.
No real roughness at idle or low engine speeds, but sounds slightly more raw when full throttle/higher revs.
I'd hoped it was just me getting used to the power, but a couple of friends have noticed the difference as well.
I know it could be a million and one things, but any suggestions for starters?

Seriously check the matts
I have an APEXI boost controller and it shows the Throttle %age. With the matt slipped forward it only ever gets to 85% despite my foot being on the floor (so to speak).
Move the matt back and hey presto another 50 BHP
Cheapest performance mod going !

i went out to check my front mat last night. The mat totally covered the black disc thing on the floor under the accelerator pedal.
i cut a hole in the mat and now the pedal goes all the way to the floor.
the car seems to go quicker as well....or is that just wish ful thinking

Apolgies to all of you.
Although I never said it out loud I had been thinking 'daft idiots'!!!!! after reading this thread.
I had new mats fitted about a month ago and funnily enough I had thought for few weeks that I was down on top end power in 4th and 5th. I reset the ECU last weekend hoping that may solve the problem. Although it was certainly more reponsive and smooother it still felt flat top end in the high gears.
So, lo and behold I had a quick look this morning and guess what???? Yep, the mats didn't fit properly and accelerator fails full travel!!!!!!!
I'm sat here eating humble pie now that normal service (warp speed) has resumed!!!!
I can now also confirm that ECU reset has made a very noticable difference.
Checking your mats has to be the best tuning mod going!!!!

I've just checked the Legacy after reading this page, and i was happy to see the mat in the way of full throttle.
It is now in the boot(better to have dirty carpet than a slow car)
Please can i now have my full boost back

My floor mat extends all the way to underneath the pedals and I suppose most cars are also this way. Does that means that the majority of car owners are missing out on the last 1/4 inch of accelerator pedal travel and maybe another 20 hp? No wonder my RR results showed a maximum of only 200 hp.

I'll have to check mine in the morning. Mine has not moved because that plastic rod that holds the mat in place is still poking out of the mats hole. I'm just wondering if the mat is restricting the accelerator even in the normal position. Have your mats moved up or are they restricting the pedal even in the normal position?
Cheers,
Wrexy.

Looks as though you lucky UK owners have got OEM mats that may not obstruct pedal travel. I am using after-market ones that just cover the whole floor area, including the pedal area.
