Engine seems to miss a beat
#1
Have for the 5th time returned our MY2000 to the dealers with the same problem, this being the engine seems to miss between 2700 revs-3000revs, this giving the feeling that the car shunts, The dealers have now told us that they have spoken to IM and apparently this is a common problem with the MY99 & MY2000 models. It seems that this is caused by a build up of exhaust gases in front of the Turbo before the exhaust pipe, IM's answer is that this is a problem with those models and nothing can be done. Has anyone else suffered with this and if so have they overcome this problem and how. Our car has 7k on the clock and is now one year old, It has a PPP fitted. Any help ???

Hi Rambo,
I thought this symptom was known as "hesitation" and as is the case with clutch judder, "they all do that sir"! My MY00 has the same trouble particularly when cold and if you hold her at say 2700 RPM the engine seems to struggle, compelling you to accelerate to get through this hesitation "band". I have read that it is the ECU and basically there is little you can do about it except the Link is a possibility. Shedloads written on the BBS so do a search for more info. Anyway, once you get through that rev range, things certainly improve eh

Rambo,
not that this is much consolation but my MY00 with 7K on the clock does exactly the same thing. Short of fitting a link or selling the car I think you are stuck with it. But I note you have a PPP fitted, I must be mistaken as I thought MY00 PPP equipped cars did not suffer from it.......
