200 sounds ok from memory. You have to replace the whole unit on that MY. Try Xtreme scoobies.

99 and 00 are under £100 for just the element.

Just had mine done this weekend at Gatwick Motors, MAF was about £65 inc VAT. Overall £90 inc fitting and VAT, they also sorted out the idle as well.

I would just try the local dealer (Gatwick Motors is Subaru).

Oh.. mines an MY99, not entirely sure whther they change the MAF, don't think theu did.

Cheers

Ru

PS. You don't have to change the whole unit, look for previous threads with my username there is a part no for the 99, ask what the part no is for the 97.

Im afraid you do have to change the whole unit on MY97/98 AFAIK Its a diffrent setup from the later cars, hence the different part numbers.

For that price on yours, they just changed the MAF element, not the whole housing, which is fine.

Dark Blue Mark is right, for MY97/98 (and earlier) the complete unit is needed.

AFAIK MAF's are different for WRX,STI,TURBO etc you need the exact same MAF or idle will go bonkers

also uk mafs are smaller than japanese ones.
