please could someone help me on the way back from worcester late last night car was running ok but a bit lumpy because i had to put texaco superunleaded and a bit of bp sul put some octane booster because no shell or esso in worcester but it was ok for an hour going along fine. but then soon as i hit the m1 car accelerator went blip and power just went just managed to pull over on lay by iddling limpy missing then just turned off. then turned the key strugling to start missing like fu*k popping then just cut out. tryed again and car just ticking over but not firing. only example i could give is when you put petrol into a diesel car symptoms like that. before yoy asked didnt put diesel in checked receipts.
then totaly dead just ticking over no fuel cumming through and firing.had to wait 3 hours for the aa in the cold towed it home nows in the garage.
what could this be is it the fuel pump or is it the relay plzz somebody help.

MY97 DID THE SAME ON ME ON THE MOTORWAY I RECOVERED IT BACK TO OUR WORKSHOP AND WHEN I INVESTIGATED FURTHER I FOUND THE TIMING BELT WORN DOWN TO A QUARTER OF ITS WIDTH AN ALL THE DEBRIS WAS IN THE TIMING COVER. I FIT A NEW BELT AN FOUND IT TO BE RUNNIN ON THE EDGE OF GEARS AN TOUCHING THE COVER I HAD TO REPLACE AN IDLER GEAR . JUST AN IDEA I HOPE IT HELPS
