I did a 200 mile trip last week. All on motorways at speeds between 80 and 90. Toward the end of the journey the engine felt noticably harsher then when I started! Four days later and the harshness is still there. Any ideas?

The car is a standard MY98 with 62,000 miles on th clock. It had its BIG service at Mill Lane (excellent service) just 2000 miles ago.

I can only describe it as a rough tingle felt through the pedals, gearlever and steering wheel. It doesn't matter if the car is in car or not, it is there all the time!

Just to be safe I have booked into Mill Lane for them to have a look, but it would be nice if I could give them some idea.

wheel balance - although this would only be at certain speeds and not effected by revs as such

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think it may have something to do with the clutch or flywheel, because the clutch started slipping in 3rd and 4th yesterday - DOH!!

You may have some oil/contamination on your clutch plate then, i hope it is not anything serious. Could also be low fluid or need bleeding. i believe The resovoir is located above the turbo heatshield

BTW
I did a long(ish) fast(ish) journey recently then settled into heavy traffic. As i depressed the clutch pedal was spongey and i was getting clutch slip, the 'bite point' dissapeared altogether. do not know what caused it - might be something similar?????

It cleared itself shortly afterwards and has not done it since - bleeding weird.
