Question

Test drove a 2001MY WRX at Days in Chelmsford. It had the Prodrive back box fitted and sounded great. I've read on the site that this box gives an extra 20bhp, which sounds great. Question – does it make it very noisy on the motorway? Didn't get the chance to try it on the test drive.

Hi Nigel
I have a Scorpion back box (apparantly these guys make the Prodrive one) and it's fine on the motorway.
Cheers

Thumbs up

Nigel
I have a Prodrive on my01 WRX (2 wks old) and today was the first time i have done major motorway driving in 2 wks and you didn't even notice you had a backbox fitted, compared to other backboxes, it is very sutle, but with a nice rumble from it.
Go for the Prodrive.

Wink

20bhp - very doubtfull!!! 10bhp tops I would say and even then, probably a bit less than that.

The increase in noise on the M'way is slight - until you boot it anyway

The Prodrive backbox is beautiful to look at, sounds great in person, and fits perfectly, but I have heard only like 5hp in gains and that all beyond 5000rpm.

Still, it is a really nice piece and should mate up easily to some center and downpipe sections from Magnex or Scoobysport. Also, consider yourself lucky to be able to get one - they are quite difficult to come by in the states.

Cheers

If you can tell me how to order from them directly, I will personally come and buy you several pints the next time I am in Switzerland!!!

I love Prodrive stuff, but their dealer network in the US is so pathetic.
