Question Full Decat

Old ground I know but can anyone help?

I have a MY00 four door with decat centre and TSL Firestorm BB. Nice setup but I 'd like to do the downpipe mod and lose the cats.

Noise is always subjective but will my cruising 80+ levels get unbearable? At the moment the Firestorm is nice and just about right. My options are.

1. Dynamat the whole floor and boot, downpipe and hope!
2. Decat and refit the Prodrive rear box
3. Buy an EVO 7 :-(

Love to do the first one, but has anyone got anyexperience with this? Can mod cause overboost and fuel cut on a standard UK Turbo.

....or stick on an Afterburner Vortex and add considerably more bhp then your average back box.

I've the full TSL decat on my 98 UK Turbo - but I've the 3" grp N backbox, not the firestorm -

I'm told its loud, but I think its fine at cruising speeds - only get 'real' loud at full bore !

I've had no overboost or fuel cut probs....

I found that swapping my downpipe made the car more throaty - not much louder.

I wouldn't worry - loose the cat!

Thanks folks I'm gonna go for it. As for the BB, I'm an firestorm convert having tried Hayward and Scott (x2) and Prodrive.

Just got to avoid the roadside checks then

Ok ok I used to have this setup and if you have a girlfriend that you want to keep then do not de-cat the down pipe!!!! I had a full de-cat system on the car and upgraded the BB to a firestorm!!! I was single at the time! Got the firestorm and my god it was loud and I loved it had it for a year and to be honest I do loads of motorway miles and it did my head it totally I used to get to meetings and be deaf! It sounds great it really does and turns heads but if you are doing miles and miles think first.

Big grin though from you if you do get it done!
