93 wrx with max boost of 0.7. is this normal or seemed too low for my liking. mods to car are hks superflow and straight thru exhaust.

any ideas of increasing the boost without hurting the bank balance?

thanks.

Thumbs up

seems ok. Why don't you try an ECU reset and have a run in a fully loaded 4th gear to see what the boost is? As for increasing boost, the proper way to do it is by installing a japanese electronic boost controller. From my experience the Blitz and Sard items are the best, and work perfectly on the Impreza.

mkk33,

My MY00 boosts to 1.1 bar and drops back to 1.0 bar.

Try resetting the ECU!! Mine was much quicker and pulls harder after the reset. Boost was the same.

Standard boost on an early car is 13 psi (0.9 bar ish) so it is a little down. MY99/00 cars ran higher boost so its not a good comparison.

To reset the ecu .... simple way is to disconnect the negative terminal of the barttery for 20 mins, this resets the ecu completely and clears all memory as well. the early ecu's are good at retarding timing and reducing boost when needed but not so hot at moving it back again without the reset.

Assume you run on SUL, if not resetting the ecu will cause the engine to det and it will just knock itself down again.
