It sounds like the clutch to me, when mine went on an older car it would drive properly until the turbo starts to work, then the RPM would almost redline until the car started to accelerate. Before you get it changed check that the clutch pedal has at least 1/2" travel before it touches the clutch actuator as the clutch might not actually be releasing properly. Other then that best to get it sorted before the flywheel gets damaged.

My Turbo 2000 is having problems. When I accelerate hard in 2nd/3rd/4th my revs shoot sky high for very little actual acceleration. They then drop down and my speed slowly increases. Classic clutch problem I though, so I tested this by going to thirty then putting it in 5th and putting foot to floor. No increase in revs and the car rumbles on slowly getting faster till about 3000rpm when the turbo cuts in.
Does anyone know if I need a clutch or is this a different problem? If so, any solutions?
Thanks in advance for any help!
