Question

Ive just fitted a bleed valve on my95wrx to up the pressure from 0.8 bar, when fitted I cannot get the valve low enough to stop it from boosting to 1.5 bar then poping and banging, this is obviously dangerous to the engine so need the boost to about 1.0 bar. I have adjusted the actuator slightly to lower the boost but cannot get the setup correct. In 1st gear the boost is great but 2nd 3rd and 4th go wild, spent all afternoon on this so someone please help me.

Where have you inserted the Bleed Valve.
Mine is between the Turbo and Actuator (MY94) and I've no problems with setting the Boost.

Currently running at 15/16psi peak and 14psi constant. The Valve is only open about 3/4 - 1 complete turn.

3rd and 4ht will produce more boost than 1st. Mine probably gives an extra psi in the higher gears.

I've got a Turbosmart bleedvalve on mine and the way I set it was to screw it right in so it actually restricts boost to about 7 psi and then build it up slowly.

I'd also check the pipes/clamps, maybe one is leaking, allowing too much air to bleed away. Check for splits in the pipe etc.

Also, on mine a quarter turn can make a LOAD of difference to boost towards the top end of the boost scale (lower down it makes less difference). Adjust it by tiny increments of about 1/12 of a turn at a time.

Hope this helps.
