Question

I have recently had my car serviced and they re set the ECU,dont know if its linked. But I was driving home last night and was giving it some (as u do) when suddenly this red light comes on "Check Engine" I stopeed read the manual and checked oil etc I then continued driving slowly home and the light eventually went off.

What does this light mean? I dont want to drive it if it could be something serious.

cheers

Leon,

From my limited knowledge, I understand taht it can come on for a lot of different reasons.

Mine came on recently on the motorway for about 10 minutes. I've just had a service, and they could tell me that it was an "O2" problem - but that it wasn't in fault at that time - they didn't seem unduly concerned. I suppose advice is get it looked at soon just in case.

basically the ecu has detected a problem with a sensor that could cause things like bad running higher fuel consumption bad starting sometimes it can go off for a bit then it'll come back on take it to ur nearest dealer and he will tell you what the problem is . you will be ok to drive it so dont worry.

Leon

Had the similar problem, we were first told that we had used some dodgy fuel in France, were told that the problem could be a faulty O2 sensor, the car was Ok for a few months then low and behold the engine light came on again this time, the O2 sensor has been replaced but the car doesn't seem to want to go. We are trying to find out more details.

Will let you know

Andy
