Cool

Thought that I would get the car tested as the garage next to work is new to MOT's and looking for donor cars to practice on.

Car P1, S/sport full system & ITG filter running on sul & octane booster.

Fast idle test
CO level @ 2633rpm - 0.62% fail (0.30 max)
HC level @ 2633rpm - 81ppm pass (200 max)
lamda 1.01 pass (0.97min - 1.03max)

2nd fast idle test
CO level @ 2697rpm - 0.55% fail (0.30 max)
HC level @ 2697rpm - 57ppm pass (200 max)
lamda 1.00 pass (0.97min - 1.03max)

Natural idle test
CO level @ 774rpm 0.92% fail (0.50 max)

overall result - fail

cheers simon

Simo

If I buy a decatted downpipe. Leave the centre section in and bang on a new backbox, is there any indication that that too would fail?

If my assumption from your figures is correct then it should pass if I get the centre Cat nice and warm.

Hi Al

most people say that a nice & warm cat'd mid section will pass the test ok so should be ok.

Get the full system & swop the mid section b4 mot i'd say

cheers simon

I'd agree with that.

Talking

What improvements would I see if I swapped out my mid for a SS (or similar) if I attached it to a SS downpipe and magnex rear box.

Are we talking a few HP and increased noise?
(I've got a similar thread working in another post)
But I'm covering all bases before spending my hard earned!!

Don't know the difference between Swiss and UK emmission regs, but here a (warm) centre cat gets you past the check no worries.

Note to P1 (and STi) owners. Swapping your centre section in/out at MOT time won't work as there was only one catalyst fitted and that was in the down pipe. The P1 (and STi) centre sections were only for silencing purposes so do pose a restriction but do not contain a catalyst.
