Knocklink Flash and set up
#1
Hi all,
Went out in scooby tonight, freezing cols and quaretr of a tank of fuel.
On way up to a mates house i overtook a car and the red light flashed up on the unit, eased off and then checked a few miles up the road, same flash.......
This is detecting DET, would the cold temp have anything to do with it or the fact i didnt have much fuel in? I put some more optimax in and octane boost and it has got much better since!!
Cars a sti type r and isnt mapped to just optimax so it does need optimax and octane until i can get a remap sorted.
Also does anyone know how to set up the knocklink? Will i need a mechanics stethascope linked to engine while it is set up??
All help appreciated.

I've left my knocklink at full sensitivity. What octane booster are you running? I had problems using millers with mine but swapping to NF removed all trace of det.
And yes the cold air will affect your car, you will get more power as the dense air contains more oxygen for the same volume. Or something like that anyway
Dave.

Leave it at Max sensitivity and sounds like you need to run optimax + booster until you get it remapped..
Indeed as Dave says the colder air is more dense so takes up less space in the cylinder so you can get more air and more fuel in therefore more power.. but as it is not mapped for the fuel you are using it is more likely to cause det.
Lucky you have a KnockLink.
