Unhappy

I have a 96 sport thats done 92K, recently 90k service done & fixed loose heat shield. 2wks later its loose again & they reckon it'll cost 2k to fix.(engine rebuild?)

I've been to 2 subaru garages whom have said different things before/after 90k service had been done

Is it worth doing or selling & how much would I get?

Had it for years/part of the family/love it to bits/great drive - dont really want to sell it...

are you sure it's jst a heat shield and not piston slap. but even if it was it still sounds expensive. and if it's a heat shield just take them off we do and never have the prob again.

Question

How do i do that then?
What/where is the heatshield?
Is it not needed?

It just makes a hella of a rattle for the 1st 15mins then ok, & after that only when driving slowly.
