Cool

Check your power steering fluid level. My car did the same until i topped it up - now all whining has gone.

yeah, power steering levels are alkl good, the dealer says he'll change the fluid at the next service (15k) which should sort the issue out. (??)

Morning folks

I'm finding that after giving my MY00 a good old thrashing that it starts to get very "whiney" - i.e the sound of the engine changes completely from the normal Impreza growl to something more akin to the WRC car - a sort of whiney, buzzy noise.

Is this normal ? should I be concerned?

Its a UK MY00 has 11k miles on it and is always warmed up properly prior to some fun.

Any ideas?

My UK94 does exactly the same. Whines like crazy after a particular bend on the way into work.

Level looks fine ~ maybe I should change the fluid.

Steering hasn't been affected, its just noisy.
