Got a little prob with my MY99 STI 5. Check Engine light came onand limited revs to 4500, and when ECU checked delivers fault codes 24(idle air solenoid valve) and 33(vehicle speed sensor). When the ECU is reset, it indicates 33 only. I then drive the car for a while with all 8000 revs available, and whilst booting it, check engine light comes on again, limits the revs to 4500 again and indicates 24 and 33 again. I have replaced the idle valve with another unit, and the problem still exists. I have a replacement speed sensor, but cant get a spanner in to loosen it off at the mo. I think it is the 24 that is forcing the limiter in.
Anybody any ideas what it could be?
Does the idle air control valve only operate at idle, if so why does it suddenly show a fault when the engine is doing 6000 revs (ish), and it doesn't pick it up straight away, it didn't do it for two days, and I thought I had fixed it by replacing the valve.
Failing all this, anybody know any scooby specialists anywhere near Brighton.

Thanks very much.

Jamie

when you boot it the ecu opens the air idle valve to allow max air flow thro'so it is relevent. Sounds like the speed sensor, there are speed limits set into the ecu code and one, at least, of them is boost related.

Have you had the car delimited by the way ?
