ENGINE BLOWN ?
JUST KNOCKED THE CRANK OUT AND COULD DO WITH SOME ADVICE AS NOT SURE WHICH WAY TO GO AS I SEE IT IVE GOT 3 CHOICES REBUILD 2ND HAND OR BUY A IMPORT JAP ENGINE i know the ins and outs of the first two but would a jap wrx engine fit a uk 97 car ie would i need a wrx ecu and may be other things ive allready got vf 24 wrx turbo but need urgent advice on this matter has any one been through this problem daz......

Comes down to cost. Decide on how much you can afford, or are prepared to spend, and make your decision based on that.
A Jap WRX, or STi engine will drop in easily, but keep to the same MY if you can. It would certainly be best to switch to the matching ecu, because any difference in cams, etc', would/could cause fuelling/ignition issues.
Your VF24 will fit, and work fine.
Rebuilding your engine would obviously be best, if money isn't an issue. That's assuming the block is still intact.
What do you mean by "knocked the crank out". The cranks are very strong, and normally only get damaged by bearing pick up, or a piston seizing.
