I want to fit a Bleed Valve to increase the boost by approx 2psi upto near the standard ECU limit of 1.2Bar, on my MY94 with 3-way Boost Control Solenoid.

I have already fitted a Boost gauge so I can monitor the Boost actvity, but am not sure about the best location for the Bleed valve due to it being a closed loop system.

I expect it should be fitted in line with the hose that goes to the Map sensor, but as I don't know where the Map sensor is I don't know which hose to use.

With respect to an EBC, don't waste your time telling me that I'll blow it up if I use a Bleed Valve. I've read all the pro's and con's and would rather spend £20 on a Bleed Valve than £500 on an EBC (If I were chipping and increasing the boost more, then the story would read differently).

Cheers All.....

ive done this on the wifes legacy turbo 94 and previous turbos (old type no ecu etc) but i wouldn,t use a bleed valve cos they are a bit course in adjustment terms. ive used festo or bosch restrictors (industrial gear very fine adjustment) cost a couple of quid more but not much.
located as follows, one on the end of the pipe that feeds the wastegate, this then feeds a t piece one end of which feeds the wastegate the other end feeds to a second restrictor.
the first restrictor is there to ensure that the second one can bleed enough air to effect the boost cos the turbo makes huge flow in comparison to the ammount a valve can bleed off.
just play with the settings until you get the increase you need.
the 2 psi will make a lot of difference as its from about 2700rpm up loads more mid range less need to rev the nads off it so det at high rpm should be less of a prob.
one more thing reset your ecu after its done and run on sul.
if you want more info, advice or details email me and i'll sort you out

Scott,

A couple of things - the fuel cut is at 15.5psi (1.05bar) which is significantly lower than 1.2bar. Removing the fuel cut is a BAD idea.

I ran with a Turbosmart bleed valve for a while which instructed you to fit the valve between the wastegate inlet and turbo outlet.
The two hoses you have left with should be connected together.

You should run with Super Unleaded if you are going to do this....

Lee's site is well-worth a visit as he has documented his testing of the valve in different places.

Thanks

Gavin
