I've just been quoted 800 quid (supplied and fitted) for a new clutch for my 1994 Legacy turbo. Seems a bit steep but if I've got to have it, I've got to have it.

Before I spend the cash though, does anyone make decent after-market clutches for these at a similar (or lower) price.

Apparently the car has been chipped by Superchip but the extra power is not that noticeable (not by me anyway). On the basis that it may be putting out more power is the standard clutch up to the job ?

Thanks in advance

Phil

I've heard that Sach do an aftermarket clutch which is a lot cheaper. I'm going to give it a try when mine goes (will not be too long by the feel of it!)

Cheers

Thanks - I'll track that company down. In the meantime I've found that Helix do a road clutch for £390 as do AP Racing for £340. I've got a local rallysport company quoting to fit it as my local Subaru dealer seem to have no idea about anything to do with the car.

Several people have told me that I need to get the flywheel changed at the same time as the clutch - is this true ?

Hang on !!! I had mine (5.door turbo) done complete with new flywheel for that figure at "SIMPSONS" in swindon (SUBARU DEALER).
Flywheel with bits £210.00
Clutch with bits £220.00
Labour £225.00
VAT £124.00

Would stick to original clutch . To be honest when I saw my old flywheel ,I was glad they had put a new one on !!

What a helpful dealer - they seemed to know what they are talking about unlike my current local dealer (in Swansea). They're going to work out the various options and give me a call tomorrow.

I'd have to get the car to Swindon though - I think that there's just enough life in the old clutch to get there !

Thanks for the help.

Phil
