Hi:

I'm doing a resarch in order to get the best turbo for my particular application. I'm thinking in 350 HP for a MY98 Impreza, and one of my choices for the turbo swap is a VF34 or VF22 because they're suitable in my country.

Regarding the fuel/electronic mods, Does anyone have some dyno figures gotten by using a VF34 turbo? I know this one have a very fast spool up, but I don't know what are the real torque and power figures, but only the "marketing" specs given by the resellers.

Thanks in advance

Regards from Chile

Contact Mark from EMS (posts as EMS here) - he's done a fair few vf34's now, so should be able to assist.

Definitley go for the 34, not the 22!

Here I am!

I did quite a few VF35 and VF30 cars. It should be possible to compare the VF30 to the VF34, as they are the same except for the core with bearings.

The 350 HP target you have, should be possible. However it is the absolutely maximum for the VF30/34 in my opinion. To achieve that power you need: FMIC, 550 cc injectors, fuel pump, colder spark plugs, exhaust manifold and some kind of management to change fueling and ignition timing. If you run it 1.3 - 1.35 bar until 6000 and 1.2 @ 7000 and map timing and fueling accordingly, you should reach your target. (on 98+ RON fuel that is!)

If you want an "easy" 350 HP, take a TD05 20G turbo! You will have quite some more lag than....... (1.2 bar boost will do!)

P.S. I normally use the Unichip on the MY97/98 models, which works very well. (if you know what to do......)

Mark.

Sorry to hijack the thread - EMS, as well as supplying turbos, can you also carry out the work to get 350BHP+, such as fitting the FMIC, injectors etc.

I am looking to modify my car (MY95 TYpe RA) and considering which companies can do this for me.

Let me know - thanks

Thanks EMS!

I agree with about the others mods in order to get that goal with a VF34... I'd like to buy a TD05 from a old WRX, but here in Chile there aren't so many pre 97 Impreza's where it can get that turbo, so my chances are:

1.- IHI VF22, the "popular" choice here
2.- IHI VF34, I think the best
3.- Get a TD05 from overseas... Do you have one? :-D

By the way, I know the older WRX have the TD05H-16G turbo, but you talk about the "20G"...

Where can you get the 20G wheel?,
Is difficult make the change?
What are the limits of torque and power with this turbo without change the engine internals?

In order to have some rough approach, because we don't have a dyno here, What times you'll get with 350 HP in a classic shape impreza?

Thanks in advance

McFurtis,

I am from Holland.....

There are very capable people in your country who can help you, I am sure!

Fredysan,

Don't look for a "normal" TD05 16G, look for the TD05 20G as Andy F. who also posts on this forum can make you!

Keep in mind that this turbo is more "laggy" than the VF34, but is able to give you more HP!

12.5 on the 1/4 mile should be possible with the VF34.

Mark.
