I have just purchased a K&N air filter (Part No. 33-2031-2)for my 99MY 5 door and unsuccessfully tried to fit it last night.

The filter fits in the air box, but I can't manage to get the air box lid back on properly, i.e. the lid hooked over the 3 lugs. Also the filter does not sit very well in the box. There are two gaskets supplied with the filter which are mentioned in the instructions which are for Nissan/Infiniti vehicles with cartridge type air filter housings only. These instructions refer to fitting the gaskets to a removable filter tray which my Scoob does not have.

Do I need to fit the gaskets to the inside of the airbox? Does anyone have any ideas?

I have checked with suppliers Falkland that the correct filter has been sent. They said the new filter should just slot in!!!

You will find that the top of the airbox wasn't fitted quite right, there are a couple of lugs at the bottom of the box, you have to get them in first
Good luck

Lemmy,

I found the same sort of thing when I had my ITG.

It is a question of making sure that the bottom of the airbox is in place and just forcing the filter in - my ITG used to flex a bit because it wasn't quite the right size.

Hope this helps

Matt

Lemmy,
You will find it is a doddle if you detach the air -inlet pipe first .
This then allows the top of the air box to be manipulated freely .

Cheers

Thanks for the advice. Removing the air inlet pipe is an exellent suggestion. I will try it tonight.

I also had the same problem with my ITG.
I agree with robjenks removed the inlet pipe and jobs-a-good-un as we say down in the westcountry.
