Question

Hello,

Since a while, I am considering to build an intercooler waterspray system on my MY99. My GT has a Prodrive ECU (PPP) which is in fact an (modified) STI-ECU.
The standard Sti5 models have an intercooler waterspray system controlled by the ECU.

My question therefore is, has the Prodrive ECU an output for the waterpomp relais? There is in fact an unused connector on the ECU. Or is the ECU recalibrated and the function switched off?

Can anybody help me with this question? If so what is the pinning, if not where is this extra connector used?

Kind regards,

Gert-Jan

I got some doubts and checked the Prodrive ECU, just to be sure
It was a major chock to me that I was wrong about the extra connector. There isn't an extra connector; it's the same as a standard MY99 ECU. I guess you already did know. Silly me.

So, can somebody tell me how the intercooler spray from an import STI is triggered?
Is there a separate electronical circuit? Please tell me, I'm very curious now.

Gert-Jan

Gert-Jan, the other way you can do this is by boost pressure. You buy the standard Erl 1s system, adjust the pressure switch to open at say 15 psi, and theres your water spray.

You could go into more configuration, and get it to only come on at a higher temp/pressure.

Hope this helps.

A pressure switch could also be used to "switch" any system on.

Thanks for your replies.

I did find many different systems like the ones from MRT (pressure or pressure + water temp.), just a pressure switch as you mentioned, a nice system from Autospeed (self learning by Injector duty cycle, intercooler core-temp. depending), etc.. etc..
But why shouldn't I try to use the original system (if there is one)?

Is there someone that has a table of the ECU pinning or a loom drawing (Sti car)?
I did have a look at the Possum Link site, but this is only the "standard" Version5 Impreza and it doesn't describe the extra connector on the Sti or Prodrive ECU.

I know it could be done simple, but that's not my way to go

Kind regards,

Gert-Jan

Does anybody have some ideas?

Could be interesting for the m8's that bought the PPP in a group buy as well.

suposse you could cheat and just replumb your headlight washers to jets on the intercooler scoop and just pust the dash button when required.
the page listed above is different to the one i have a copy of i`ll try and get someone who knows more about computers to put it on the bb. the version i have runs off boost pressure off the manifold to pressur switch which is manualy adjusted.
