Question

Can anyone tell me if the Series McRae has an oil cooler? If it does, are the pipes in the lower front engine bay for the cooler or something else? My fathers (No.6) Series McRae has developed some corrosion in this area and he suspects its aluminium/alloy related as there are white deposits. Is it a simple job to replace the oil cooler (if in fact it has one..).

Cheers,
Iain

Exclamation

Iain,

I believe the oil cooler is a 'donut' one that relies on air flow around it, rather than the raditor sort.

The pipes may well just be the air con (??)

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Question

Thanks,

I don't think the car has air con, is it not just the recirculating fan type...?

Apparently the unit down below looks as if it has crimped edges and 1/2-3/4 inch bore pipes to it (am I descriptive or what?). It appears to be quite exposed to weather too.

What is a donut type oil cooler?

Cheers,
Iain

If this continues like this it may be better for me to post a pic or 2.
