Question

My 1st gear synchromesh is on the way out and I have two options:
1) Strip down and replace synchro mechanism
2) Replace with a complete new/2nd hand gearbox

I was thinking of taking the later route because it would improve the general strength and feel of all the gears. Is it possible to do this to a UK MY95? Should I try and find an STi or WRX gearbox and what model years will fit?
Alternatively, I could try and find a UK spec gearbox, again what MY can I fit?

Any help would be gratefully received,

Cheers,

Andy

You could do the swap, but would also need a rear diff.

Pete,

why do I need a new diff? Is it because the final drive ratio is different from UK spec?
