I have a problem with lack of power in MY95 WRX. Tried everything...Coil pack's, boost solenoid, new HKS plugs..The list goes on....
Yesterday switched on the aircon and the problem doubled, if not trebled.
The car seems fine on the motorway, but as soon as the temp rises, bye bye boost.
Any thought's????

Steve,

You seem to have described two issues there but both leading to the same conclusion ie loss of power–one caused by a/c while the other from rising temps. For the a/c part, try adjusting the Idle Air Control (IAT) clockwise/counterclockwise to see if it makes a difference. The IAC is a beige/brown looking **** on top of the intake manifold, secured by one screw on each side. Usually if this is stuffed or adjusted too low, results in big RPM needle swings as the ECU tries to supply enough fuel to cope with the sudden load.

Air con does consum within the region of 6-8 hp so this is sure to make a difference with performance when switched on.

True to an extent, but the losses will be there whether the aircon is switched on or not. Tests showed the losses were due to the extra resistence on the belt caused by the aircon pump, which was unaffected by the on/off status of the aircon.

No idea what the problem could be however? but suggest boost problem? warm weather (warm air) causes lower boost, if you have a leak, or just a boost holding problem, the warm weather will probably exacerbate it??

Talking

Just discovered I have a Code 32 (oxygen sensor) fault. Aircon obviously exaggerated it because the mixture is messed up.
