Question

Hi,

I would like to fit new exhaust system on my MY99 wagon and Powerstation recommended a full de-cat Magnex system. Before I start phoning round for prices I wondered if anyone else out there had already done this and found the cheapest supplier ? Powerstation also said to fit a magnex down pipe, but don't seem to be able to find it listed anywhere, anyone know about it ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The DP is just out and I got quoted £190 inc vat for it. Many companies do them such as Halfords DRMotorsport Falkland etc.

Will have it soon

Lambo if you are worried about noise you won't be able to fit a fully de-catted system I'v just fitted magnex BB and center pipe with resonator box with original scooby down pipe and the sound is like a v8 burbulling away not much noise in the cabin either

Thanks everyone for you input but I have bbeen put off the magnex system by Jerome, this is his e-mail,

I am unable to register on Scoobynet BBS as internet access limited through
work so please excuse the direct contact.

I went through the same considerations re exhausts and Powerstation strongly
recommended Magnex so I bought a centre with resonator and 3in oval back box
to be fitted to my then HKS decatted down pipe. Magnex didn't do a downpipe
then. The systems proved incompatible and I had to change the downpipe for
a
Scoobysport one. Then refitted the Magnex CS & BB and my heart sank. The
noise was unbelieveable. It was like a tank. I drove straight from the
specialist garage to a Kwik fit and refitted the standard cat CS. It was
much better but the burble was a tad loud for my neighbours. I then changed
the back box to a Long Life version which is quite like the SS BB but you
can
tailor the noise levels to suit your requirements (Add more or less steel
wool as sound proofing etc). They''re in Cardiff. Anyway, it's quieter now
but still carries the burble without being intrusive at motorway speeds. If
I had to drive 200 miles on the fully decatted system, my ears would
defintely have bled!

Your 5 Door also lets in a lot more sound from under the boot so be careful.
I still have my Magnex BB and CS are in my garage which I may sell when I
get
on the internet. Dont spend a load of money without hearing an equivalent
system first.

The SS DP has the best reputation and starts the turbo spinning around
2000RPM. The "whistle" is beautiful and I'm convinced it sets the tone of
sound for delivery by the rest of the system. The full SS system sounds
superb and quite a few were at the Castle Combe track a couple of weeks ago.
Anyway, I'm rambling.

Hope this helps.

JB

Noise in the car would be a problem, not for me but the wife and kids, so I may have to
hear a few systems first before I commit to one.

Cheers
