Dave....There have been loads, and loads of questions on the oil theme....What oil do you guys recommend,The reason why i`m asking..Is...Whilst i was getting my cambelt changed,I asked the garage..The same question,He told me,The exact same thing another spot told me....That quite a few garages...Have had a circular..That stated,NOT to use 0w/40 in the scoob engine and that the lowest recomended cold viscosity to be 10w/40...

I was just wondering what you guys recommend,In these engines....?.

Correct.. you really want 15W50 or 10W60.

Best oil I have used in my scoob so far is Motul 300v Comp 15W50.

Better than Mobil 1 15W50 I found and far far better than semi-synthetic the dealer used to put in.

Catrol do a 10W60 that is suppose to be very good.. cannot remember what it is called.. RS that's it, but I have not tried it..

Car is much smoother and tappet noise gone with Motul and it is reasonably priced too.

Sorry guys, Just spotted this. Must have been sleeping on the job. Actually too busy to get here that often.

We don't actually recommend any brand of oil. We sell and recommend whatever we have in stock today!! LOL.

Just that you need 10W40 or 15W40 or 15W50 . Anthing lower will not be resistant to the forces of the down [firing] stroke and is likely to cause damage to the upper big end shell.

Subaru I believe, call it different, by saying that lower numbered oils have a habit of aereation [ bubbles] which is also bad news for bearing support. They particularly condemn Mobil one, but if it's the wrong viscosity the it could happen to any brand in my opinion.

I use Mobil one in my own cars' engines and am very happy with it. I have no intention of getting into a 'x' brand is better than 'y' brand on here. I am only stating what I find to work for me.
