POSSUM Link on UK cars???
#1
I know of someone running running a possum on his uk my 97, but perhaps divulging his name for warranty issues is not a good idea.
He does a have a huge amount of power (approaching 300) and but also a no standard turbo.
There are issues with cold starting on the link, but this is not really the product, as Bob Rawle has proven a great cold start and idle can be achieved.
If you get BRD to do teh car for you, I can't forsee any problems.
Give Branko a call and he will discuss it with you.

Hi Everyone,
I just wondering who has had a Possum Link fitted to a 97MY and what the pro's and con's are?
I know the PPP is a nice upgrade, but for 4-6K less, the Possum Link looks an attractive proposition with better torque and power than that of the PPP.
I have heard issues with the Possum on Cold start and some drivability issues...but not sure of there origin and authenticity.
Cheers, Jacko

I have had a Link on my car for 20,000 miles now - I have never had a cold start problem that has been related to the Link - although the new software upgrade has made cold and warm start even smoother.
My car is a MY99 - Adam is right, speak to Bob/Branko about the capabilities of a Link on a UK car.

Jacko, I think Adam was talking about me!
I have a UK MY97, I have been running a link for a little while now.
Cold starts were an issue to start with, but this was resolved very quickly, via the guru Bob!
Pros, more power, better economy.
Cons, when driven hard the economy goes out the window. But that’s a bit like driving the normal scoob hard.
Speak to Branko or Bob, both are quite nice people.

I've had a Link on my Japan spec '98 .. '97 & '98 use the same PossumLink board. Never had a Link related cold start problem but it tends to idle rich, I kid you not. If you have an Air/Fuel monitor to the factory ECU, you will see it rocking back and forth in closed loop idle. With the Link, I have found it is nearly impossible to get a lean idle without compromising idle stability. Too lean and the car will have starting difficulties, both cold and hot.
Bob Rawle's remote support was the best as he helped me through my most difficult times as a newbie to Link a year ago. After too many failed attempts to get idle mixtures right (lean to avoid bore washing), I've finally succumed to fitting my standard ECU back.

It may depend on model year, it may be that Jan's car has some specific issue - however my car has an idle which does not trouble the Lambda Link and so could be regarded as fairly lean! It is also stable cycling around its target value of 850rpm
Sorry to hear your problems Jan

Cheers for the response guys.
I am still a bit worried about reliability on a 97MY UK (CHOCOLATE PISTONS) at higher boost and power/torque etc.
Plus my insurance goes up by 2 groups!!!
mmmmmm still not sure.
Cheers, Jacko.

all you want R ! [what Model Year is your rex?)
Fitted back std ECU and idles purrrfectly (the way I like it), my O² sensor is going to last longer too . Been running JECS for three weeks now, no specific problems that I can see.
