Just noticed a small square headed bung on the top of the arm of the inlet manifold nearest the turbo. The car is MY94 WRX/STi, any idea what the bung is for?
cheers for any help!

Alex,

That bung you see on the exhaust manifold only appears on earlier model WRX/STi up to 1996. On a friend's STi ver 2 Type RA 555 spec, his O² sensor sits there. After he had the factory dump pipe removed, he relocated the sensor to the bung on the new dump pipe.

You can make use of the plug to fit an aftermarket exhaust temp sensor. I'm thinking of doing on but since my '98 manifold doesnt have the factory bung, I'll have to get one done.

I've got one on these on the inlet manifold of my MY94 WRX also
I assume it can be used for a Turbo boost gauge connection etc

Stephen's right, it's a pressure takeoff to let you fit a boost gauge / pressure sensor or suchlike.

Cheers for replying anyway, the bung is hidden under some of the rubber tubing.

Alex,

No excuse for not reading your post carefully (**** happens when mind is not on the job

You said "inlet" manifold and i was thinking "exhaust" manifold on 94-96 WRX/STi. Perhaps this is a great time to see if you do have such bung there. Should be able to see it from top, viewing it from the air cleaner side of the engine bay.
