As the rather long title says.Have a STi4 with SS DP and standard mid and back.I want the quietest exhaust possible, would replacing the standard with Magnex(with resonator)mid and back actually provide any performance gains.I understsnd that the STi has no centre cat and so wonder if replacing it will actually provide any significant gains

Question

Deep,i actually thought the centre pipe had a catalyst, could be wrong???????though.
I wouldnt have thought a power increase was possible,Oh and the back box is still up for grabs!!!!!

Hiya M8 have left you a reply under your General post. I've heard different things about whether the mid contains a cat or not on an STi. Am a bit confusedBy the way what exhaust are you running at the moment?

The P1 definitely doesnt have a catalyst in the centre pipe - so I would have thought neither does the STi.

Hi Gastro, thats what I thought aswell.Would you know whether there is anything to be gained by replacing the mid with a res' box then. Cheers, Deep.

I'm no expert - but I dont think there would be any performance gains to be had that way. My garage told me that the only (easy) way of gaining more power is to change the downpipe and remove the other catalyst....but then your faced with MOT problems and octane booster dependence etc... sounded more trouble than its worth...

Hey Gastro,
Thanks for that, I thought the P1 centre section was catted, just put a Scorpion de-cat centre and b/box on todat and was wondering if Id need to start using the old octane booster again.
