FSE Power Boost Valve
#1
Hi Guys,
I'm fairly new to Scooby's but have got a MY96 wrx with magnex back box, blitz cone filter,I've just had a Unichip fitted with electronic boost contol and was wondering whether one of these valves would be worthwhile,do they improve response? any ideas?
Cheers,
Boostman

Although I have not had experience of the FSE valve on a Scoob I fitted one to my previous car, a Power Engineering Turbo`d Mondeo 2 ltr. Although the car produced 200bhp it suffered an annoying flat spot right at the bottom end which made quick pull-away from rest a bit `on-off`at times. The power also dropped away sharply once the revs went beyond the peak power point despite a 5th injector (due to a very small turbo unable to pass sufficient air) I have to say the FSE almost eliminated the flat spot and helped a little at the top end. I will say, however, these were specific problems, if your engine shows no indication of a fuelling problem I would leave well alone. A rolling road session to monitor fuelling throughout the rev range should indicate if fuel pressure needs adjustment.
By the way this type of valve is known as a Rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

Boostman,
As far as I know, the std one on the scoob is a rising rate regulator. I had it done early on and it cost £200 fitted !!! There may be a difference to performance, but not what I'd call very noticeable or worth £200.
In hindsite I wouldn't bother.
