APS cold air intake: comments please
#1
Has anyone tried this cold air intake setup? If not, could someone suggest what might be the DISADVANTAGES of this setup vs. a HKS,BLITZ, cone filter induction. (i.e. in terms of it's location)

The only real problem I can see with this is that in order to clean it you have to:
1. Jack the car up.
2. Take the wheel off.
3. Undo the inside guard area with some really annoying little plastic screw thingies that are prone to self destruction.
4. Take off the front guard cover area with more really annoying little plastic screw thingies.
5. Take off the filter and clean it.
6. Put back the front guard cover area.
7. Put back the inside guard.
8. Put your wheel back on.
Bit of pain overall.
K&Ns need cleaning fairly often to maintain their performance, especially in the inside guard where it will get quite dirty.
On the upside though it's a good idea and looks nice and it should be much better than a typical cone filter that sucks in hot air all the time.
I looked at this but decided on just taking out the resonator ******** thing in the guard and putting in a King Dragon filter in the standard airbox. I am very happy with the result. Benefits:
1. Little bit more power at the top end.
2. Revs nicer
3. Noisier - lots of hissing and sneezing but not too much. May not be acceptable to everyone though.
4. Throttle response a bit better.
5. Fuel economy improved.
Hope this helps,
David
