I have a 85 Subaru GL Wagon 1800cc.It has a Hitachi electronic feedback carb.The car died when I was driving,It will start and run for about 15 to 30 seconds.I changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter at the pump.It also has a new oxygen sensor. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

Hi there - i do not know that particular carb model but i do have some carb experience so here goes.

Could be water in the tank got through to the carb and sitting in the float chamber, water won't fit through the jets so fills it up. clean the tank, fuel lines and carb out completely - flush it with fuel/gas

Stuck float in the float chamber or sticking needle valve which cointrols the fuel flow into the float chamber - can jam up with 'gum' - clean all the parts

the float level too low - the brass tag which sets the level may require 'tweaking'

Faulty fuel line - loose flap/strip of rubber of rubber closing and preventing flow - blow through the fuel lines to check this - disconnect 'em first!

Blocked jets - clean them with an airline - do not put wire or such down 'em

Whatever you do on the carb do it on a clean bench - small amounts of crap can cause big problems.

Oh BTW
if it has an electric choke, check it is working - either take it off, earth it and check the mechanism opens/moves
Might be the fuse, bad connection or just worn out - should not be to expensive to fix or seeif there is a manual conversion - usually work better and more reliable.
