Question

Just bought an Sti8 with PPP fitted 2nd hand, and had a look under the bonnet to find the downpipe heatshield missing, do they leave this off after changing the downpipe or should there be one there?
Also had a look in the air filter box to find a green panel filter fitted, shouldn't the standard filter be a paper element one or do they also change this as part of the PPP?

This is the downpipe included in your PPP and hasn't any metallic heatshield. Standard air filter should be in your filter box. Hope this helps you.

The filter isn't changed as part of the PPP, but the old heat shield should have been modified to fit over the new downpipe.

Three pieces of the four piece system are changed on the STi8. Downpipe, which will have a sports cat with a cover around it.(The heatshield around the turbo unit is retained but cut to fit the new downpipe neck) The second cat section is replaced by a through pipe with the original metal heat shield retained (plus lambda sensor), and the rear box. The original resonator section is retained.
The filter has obviously been replaced with a green cotton type? (non PPP)

Just a bit of clarification here: In your first post you talk about the "downpipe heatshield" being missing. What exactly do you mean? Are you referring to the metal jacket that is fitted to the standard downpipe?

The heatshield that Ex-Pug and John D are referring to (the one that's cut to fit the new downpipe) is the turbo heatshield.

As Jim says, the new downpipe doesn't (and isn't supposed to) have a heatshield (apart from the wrap round the catalyst) on it.

So, to summarise, if your turbo has a heatshield, and your downpipe doesn't, that's as it should be.

If the turbo doesn't now have a heatshield, where before it did, you should go back to the dealer and ask for it to be refitted.

It's the turbo heatshield that I was on about, so I'll have to go after the dealer for a new one

thanks
