I have a vibration that feels just like an out of balance wheel(s). Not detectable at 60mph but get worse over 60. At 85 - 90 it is at its peak. The steering wheel shimmys and there feels like a siilar vibration from the rear.
All the wheels have been balanced (twice) no effect.
Suspension bushes all OK
Steeing rack fine

Anyone with any ideas??

Diff bearings? - or bent/worn/out of balance propshaft - what model/mileage??

MY99 UK car.
The wheel bearing have been checked and 1 changed under warrenty 6 months ago.

There is no extra noise so I don't thing bearings.
Do prop -shafts go out of balance?
I have had the car for 3 years.

can you see any grease leaking out of the doj's and running down the gearbox coz if this happens then the doj's can dry out and as the driveshaft rotates it can cause a vibe. it is worth checking out.

OK, will check this out tomorrow... any other suggestions whilst I have my nose under the car.

Just curious as to how you've owned a MY99 car for three years?
CK1 is also suffering from a permanent vibration, and after advice from Steve at SS I'm getting a drive shaft changed Monday so hopefully that'll cure it. If not, who knows? The Ring beckons.....

Stef - three years - LOL - I wondered the same but decided it was three actual years - 99/00/01 rather than calendar years

Had a similar problem which was caused by the wheel being buckled, probably from one of the many potholes which cover the roads.
The wheel balancing machine compensated for the flat spot showing perfect balance, but the road was far less forgiving.
