I`m still having problems with uneven front tyre wear and have had the geometry checked twice and given the all clear. However, when reversing on full lock, normally when parking etc. I get the feeling that one of the front wheels is skipping, difficult to describe but it is as if i`m running over something or as if the wheel is being dragged around side on and then the tyre rubber suddenly gives and jerks back into position.
Apologies if this sounds like the ramblings of a mad man.
Any ideas what may be the cause.
Only happens at very low speeds.

Moz,

Where have you had the geometry checked ? I've heard a few people turn up to Powerstation to get the bump steer mod done saying that the car is scrubing tyres, but their dealers have checked alignment and said it was OK, only to find that the alignment is out or even way, way, way, out

Cheers

I had the geometry checked at ATS first and then somewhere in Warwick, recommended on the bbs.
I`ll give powerstation a try.
cheers

Cool

What car do you have? Is it possible that it may have the optional STI front clutch based LSD? This may affect the steering at low speeds.

The car is 95 wrx 56000 miles, so could be worn components, I had arb and links checked for damage but all seems straight, is there a quick check I can do to see if their is excessive wear on the ball joints?

Just a note to say........

My MY00 was drifting to the left so checked the tyre pressures...no luck there....

So asked the Subaru dealer to check the alignment....he said there was no problem...

He then added if it got worse they would get all four wheels checked for alignment. They could only do the fronts at there garage!!

Is it normal for dealers only to be able to check the fronts on a four wheel drive car??

I've got exactly the same problem with my MY95 WRX. It has done around 45k miles.
I'm taking it to PowerEngineering in a couple of weeks to get the geometry checked among other things. Will see whether this sorts it out.
