Bar to Psi
#1
Just wondering about boost pressures.
How do you work out what 1.2bar is in psi etc
As I was just thinking about getting a boost controller for my MY94 WRX RA and wondered how much I could wind up the boost on the std ecu without getting overboost.
I have read about 8-10bhp per psi increase in a earlier thread and seen the SIDC FAQ about 1.2bar being the overboost limit.
My car runs 1bar in 3rd, 1.1bar in 4th and 1.2bar in 5th. Well that is what my boost gauge reads anyway....
If I can up the boost by 2/3 psi that could mean up to 20/30bhp extra which is good!!
Have thought of a bleed valve but have been warned off by others. Will be adding a few extra mods yet (downpipe etc) and do not want to buy a ecu until I am finished adding bits (remapping after every mod).
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Scott

Shaun and JohnD,
Sorry guys, but you're wrong! 1 bar = 14.503774 psi.
The 14.7 conversion factor that you're talking about relates to the conversion of Standard Atmospheres to psi. Not the same as bars.
Here endeth the 2nd nit-picking physics lesson

Oooooooeeeeeeer!!
If it reduces the severity of the beating (- not really in to S&M ) it's not going to make much difference whether it's 14.5 (which it is) or 14.7 (which it's not! ).
