Im looking for some advice on which back box to fit to my03 WRX. My dealer will fit a prodrive one for £300. I like the sound of the Ninja but the size of it puts me off (a bit bad boyish for me). Any other suggestions which will give me the scooby sound but wont split my ear drums?

Cheers

I have the Ninja fitted to MY00 Classic. Yes it is big and shiney...actually it's not a 5 1/2" tail pipe as advertised, i think i measured it at 5". Don't be put off, it does look good IMO, but you will get people looking at it. More importantly it makes a lovely burble especially combined with a decat downpipe....roars on excelleration...and occasionally pops when hot. It doesn't drone on motorways even with a decat D/P.
Good value for money at just over £200.

However, you may want to consider a Hayward and Scott B/B...much smaller tail pipe which makes one of the nicest flat four sounds around.....IMO again.

I went from a 3.5" Magnex to a 5" Ninja because the Magnex was just too small IMO. The sound of the pipe had nothing to do with it, but as it happens - the Ninja sounds better
You could always have the best of both worlds and order a 4" Magnex, only available from Roadrunner in Nottingham

Just had a TSL Firestorm put on and i'd recommend it to anyone. Awesome sound when pushed and proper deep flat four burble on tickover. Large pipe though so maybe not what you're looking for.

hi,
Any of you guys got any piccies of the Ninja box fitted to an 01? I'm looking for a back box for my 03 too, but like the original chappy posting here, i don't want something too OTT!

Its just the price that seems most appealing.. being 200 notes.

Cheers

I have a firestorm and yes it is a bit ott, best bet is go for a run down to TSL in Nottingham ( leave the wallet at home )
phone them first and make sure they have a few demo cars in so you can have a listen

other than that go to Haywood & Scott direct,

T-1000, if you tag along to some of the Worcester meets you will see a range of back boxes,

The biggest difference between most of the backboxes around is in the noise you get. Therefore, my advice would be to go to meets or dealers, and have a ride in various cars fitted with different boxes and pick one that sounds/looks right to you. Power difference between them all will be very minor, you'll probably never notice.
