Ive been noticing a smell of burning oil (or some other fluid) after driving my 94 STI.
I dont have to have been "caning it" either.
I looked under the bonnet a couple of times but couldnt see anything.
I looked again today, and sure enough found a patch on the engine which was oily and was smoking!
The car does NOT leave any oil patches on the driveway though.
I know nothing about engines so I'll describe where it was...
If you're standing in front of the engine bay then its on the left hand side, about half way down into the engine there is a metal casing where it says "16 valve 4 Cam" or whatever it is.
Around that area there is quite a bit of black sludgy oil and I think it must be dripping onto the bottom of the turbo or something and burning? (is that the turbo there?...dunno...)
Can any mechanically minded soul tell me what likely needs replacing (gasket somewhere?) so I can get it done while its still under warranty...
Does it sound nasty?
Thanks
Mark....
