Thumbs down

I have just had my MY96 UK rolling roaded.

It's fairly standard, having just a Magnex backbox and K&N panel filter. I registered 236bhp at a modest 11psi max boost. The boost rose to 11 and stayed there. On the second run it only made 223bhp and the boost only rose to about 9psi before gradually falling off. This tied in with the car's behaviour on the road. Some days it feels as fast as hell and other days, it feels quite sluggish, but I presumed it was just my imagination. Someone suggested it may be that the boost control solenoid is playing up and seeing as I've recently had an oil change that seems likely to be the cause. (I've heard that the solenoids get oiled up if too much oil is put in the engine.)But has anyone else experienced this and if so what were the causes? A few of us at the rolling road shootout had a similar problem although with some of them, turning the engine off and then on again worked (ECU?). I think i was the only one that didn't suffer from overboost as well. (I maxed out at 11 which I believe is low while some hit 17 and 18 psi). Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Richard
