Question

how much power do Racelogic claim this gives? And when does the controller switch it on & off? Is it only when you're giving it some beans, or is it more complex?

The Alterpower unit disconnects the alternator to battery feed when you hit a preset boost. Can't remeber what psi that was, but basically only when you put your foot down, the rest of the time it charges like normal. Bit disconcerting at night when the lights suddenly dim!

Cheers guys .... doesn't work for turbo cars tho' cos the manifold's under pressure, not vacuum. Good idea though, it should be easily adaptable to work off a boost pressure switch or similar ...

Sounds interesting! Should be more well known about. Used to be used in stock cars, or something like that years ago...

Only me again!! Just realised, Stuart, you are the same fellow that makes those gourgeous (spelling?) intake vents for the scooby, are you not? Have been meaning to contact you. Getting virtually identical car to yours next week and am very interested!
Could you email with some info please...

For anybody reading this topic and they have not seen these scoops, I recommend to take a peek!

You can (or could) get the alterpower for turbo cars, I had one on the scoob for a while (till it melted). Trouble is the leads they provide are quite short and it had to be mounted on top of the engine, which I don't think helped! Luckily it suffered its final meltdown and battery discharge while at the garage, so they removed it and recharged my battery. racelogic returned the dosh no problem.

Nick re the lip spoiler I think it is an STi III spoiler, I picked it up second hand (in pieces) repaired it and had it sprayed.

The bonnet scoops are available for both the old and new shape bonnets, but I am currently investigating a different supplier to try and get the price down, and also maybe get some made in carbon fibre!

Question

Stuart, was the alterpower of any real use on your scoob? Notice any difference?

Interesting! It said on the site "for non-turbo cars" so I could have missed a section or something. Did it make any difference in use to your Scoob?

I did notice a difference (for the better) but when it melted I didn't bother replacing it. The standard leads on it were short so it had to be mounted on top of the engine, which probably didn't help! Also at night the standard lights are crap, let alone when the alternator gets switched off and the voltage drops!
