I hav a Pipercross Induction kit fitted to my Scoob. Checking the oil etc the other day i found a 3" round not so shiney thing loose in the engine compartment. It was the metal end cap off of the filter. It is only there for show, the filter is still intact.

Seemed like a bit of a shame, called Pipercross who said that they will despatch another filter to me as soon as poss. i only work about 2 miles from their premisis and i am gonna pick it up, they offered to fit it for me while i wait

Thats what i call good service!

Just out of interest, what did the filter look like at the end where the silver cover was missing? I've got a Pipercross filter and it's always had a white plastic disc with the Pipercross symbol at the end, but with no silver cover. Is it missing or are some like that?

Scoobysnacks,
The older style of filter didn't have an end cap, it was all foam with the white X. There have been lots of different styles over the years.

This is a common thing..

The metal fancy end plate falls off.. its only glued/bonded on

The material underneath is still sponge/filter... the whole thing is made in one go, then the end plate is glued on.

Scoobysnacks.

Ha!
You know what, i thought that the end cap was white. My dealership fitted the kit FOC as i purchased it from them (god luv 'em!).

The end cap has a white protective plastic film i know know this cause it part peeled off when it was rattlling around the engine bay!

FYI - my car is a MY 99 UK 4 dr Turbo, i believe that there are different kits dependant on the age of the car so the kits/end caps may well vary.

Funnily enough when i called Pipercross and started to explain that "i have one of their filters and" the chap from Pipercross finished my sentence for me with "the end cap has come off!", yes it seems to be a common fault, it is only glued on!

Shame it did not stay on in the first place however they have come up trumps.
