Question

Probably a stupid question but how do you check the rear diff oil level and fill it up if needed? Do you remove one of the nuts and see if the oil comes out??

When you look at the diff end plate there should be four round the outside holding the plate on and two bigger ones towards the centre. The top one's the filler hole, ie fill 'til the oil dribbles out. The book says API class GL-5 SAE 85W for this country.

As Grahame said use GL5 75w/90 but make sure it is limited-slip compatable! E.G. Valvoline GL5-LS If your car is not new it might be worth considering a diff. oil change. Its simple!

Graham,
Does that mean you take out the bottom nut and fill through the top hole until the oil runs out the bottom nut.

NO !!

The bottom nut is drain only.

Drain, refit the lower nut, then refill through the upper hole until the oil just starts to run out of the upper hole.
