may need a new bottom end for my sti6 Type R Limited

been looking at a comparsion chart, says the V6 as Forged Molybendum Pistons and a re-enforced steel crank amongst other things? where as the earlier versions dont, is this right? do i need a specific V6 bottom end then?

Cranks are quite sturdy and can be reground for use again if scored etc... Chances are you have spun a bearing or something which will not mean complete replacement..

Have not read any other threads so there may be more probs but a big end bearing doesnt nessecarily mean full replacement.

Jeesh, that's a shame. You've only had the car five minutes haven't you? What happened?

Wink

John F is correct there is no difference between bottom ends on STi5 and 6. Forged pistons are about the strength of it. the crank is nothing special.

REMEMBER, DO NOT grind a crank on ANY STi car EVER it will come back and bite you very soon. New one every time it shows damage.

WE will reluctantly put a ground crank in anything up to 240 hp and only if the customer is fully aware of the potential consequences. However cars move on and next thing you know it's being modded up to 16 gerzillion horsepower and pop goes the weasel. [crank]

If any you reading this want a chat about any of these issues call me.
