Dump valve spring strength
#1
I have recntly replaced a duff dump valve on an MY97- it was the classic hooting problem at 300 rpm.
I was sent the wrong DV to start with which looks like it bolts straight onto the outlet of the intercooler.
The spring strength is much weaker than that off the proper DV (a plastic jobbie)for my car.
Anyone know why they should be so different?
I only ask this as how will I be able to specify spring strength if I got myself a flash aftermarket recirc DV, when this new one expires.

Butty,
First of all, make sure your old DV isn't just "sticky", as that can make it feel as if the spring is stronger.
If it's OK, then the spring in your new DV, should be at least as strong as the original. If not, you will likely find it's losing boost.
Mark.
