As per title, plus will they alter the MAF reading and, thus, need to be taken into account when going for a TEK remap?

Ciao

Thumbs up

I would say so,especially if your going to remap as you say you are.I guess it's more about building as much safety into the engine as possible. The uprated hoses will allow you to run higher boost without the threat of failiure. As for the maf side i'm not sure that it will be a problem,i've never experienced any problems with my own but then that's not to say that some else hasn't.

My concern with MAF is more or less the same of a cone filter: being the MAF a kind of "tuned" sensor, which depends on the volts it will read, and on the system around it, removing flow restrictions should mean that there will be more flow for the same volts. Just dunno if this is a lot, a little bit, and if it is acceptable while I still have the stock ECU map.

Why have a concern with the MAF ? The 'Y' piece is installed long after the MAF has done its job.You are correct about an induction kit affecting the readings as it fits before the MAF but intercooler hoses wont affect it.

As for fitting them i would say only if you are running higher than standard boost pressure, my car runs higher BHP than another car without them which has exactly the same spec as mine.

So, no flow improvement, just resistance to high boost? I would expect flow is well improved with respect to the stock item...

if you look at the stock piece it's replacing you'll see that there's a lot of room for improvement in flow.

i saw another lb of boost above 6k rpms with an MBC.

Andrea, it may overboost a little, but this can be sorted with a custom map, a manual or electronic boost controller, adjustment of wastegate linkage on adjustable models (usually TD04) or adjustments to restrictor size with a fine drill set (0.05mm increments) or a flow control valve to replace the restrictor. If you search on overboost in this forum you will find a multitude of solutions.

Hi John,

in any case with DeltaDash (jup, just ordered it) I should be able to monitor it.

I guess same reasoning applies to the silicone replacement for the hose from the maf to the compressor.

BTW, what power could I expect with:

decat up/dp
backbox (but not loud, somehow still restricted)
samco intercooler hose
samco maf2turbo hose
and a tek remap (something like a few tenth of a bar extra, + fuelling and ignition sorted out)?

Bye

Andrea

Edited to say it's a MY01 WRX...

If nothing else, fitting the silicon Y piece doesn't half make taking the intercooler on and off a lot quicker.
