Currently have a UK 97 Turbo and the gearbox feels somewhat clunky. Has a short shift already but I'm told that this type of problem is quite common. Personally I think its gradually got worse over the last two years or so. Anyway been offered a gearbox out of a UK98 for £150.00.
Is this a decent price? Supposing I bought it and decided not to fit it are they easy to sell on? Not looking to make a profit on it or anything but I'm undecided whether I'll be keeping the car for anymore than 6 months-currently weighing up the cost of the box plus fitting against the benefits. Guess I could still have a problem (if not worse) when I swop them over.

Not a bad price, but then that assumes the box is better than the one it's replacing.
Change the oil in your current one (Castrol syntrax is supposed to be quite good) and then see how it goes.
Mine (MY96) cheered up quite a bit for having an oil change.
