Full de-cat essential for Tek 2?
#1
I have recently become the proud owner of, an "off the shelf" Tek 2 ecu.
My question is, is it safe to run this without a de-cat?
If not, would a centre de-cat suffice?

Biggest restriction is the cat in the downpipe, not the centre one. There's no such thing as a 'tek2' - they all differ slightly; talk to the tuner who sold this 'off the shelf' ecu upgrade.

Well, it actually came straight from Ecutek themselves. It is stickered up as Tek 2, and that is also what it says on the invoice.
I am planning a full de-cat, but not until the bank balance recovers from it's Christmas bashing
I'm more interested in the possibility of boost spikes, or det.
Cheers

The risk is of det, as the timing may be optimised for the decat (or hi-flow cat, such as PE sell). I'd drop Merv or Steve an email to confirm.
