Turbo spike
#1
MY00 turbo, standard UK model with various guages (Racimex).
At full boost I get about 0.9 bar. However, when I change gear at full boost the pressure 'spikes' up to about 1.4 bar before dropping back down again.
Is this normal?
Cheers,
Nick

Nope, completely bog standard car except for boost guage, oil temp and oil pressure. The boost guage is T'd into the (grey) turbo pipe - not connected to the spare outlet on the top of the head.

Nick,
Boost gauge pressure is normally tapped from the intake manifold and not from the turbo outlet.Obtaining boost pressure from the manifold, you will not see the turbo spike since gauge is reading pressure after the throttle valve. In fact you will see vacuum at this set up due to blow off valve venting.Try it and let us know as you want to know boost pressure going into your engine.
