During motorway driving water temp.drops to bottom levels,after fitting frontend oil
cooler and upgraded oil pump to my 98my impreza turbo.İ also have frontend intercooler,JE pistons,Arrow conrods,heavy duty gaskets,hks air induction kit,scorpion
exhausts and downpipe,no cats,tdi exhaust manifold,water injection,turbo timer,new high
performance hks-garrett turbo.The car runs like a bullet between 3500-7000rpm even in 5th. gear and overtakes evo6'rs2 tm editions
as if they are anchored.İ am not envying any
more porsche turbos and ferraris.İ strongly believe it is the best value for money after
fittıng the hks-garrett turbo.However,what worries me the low water temp.on motorway driving.İs this bad for the engine?PLEASE ADVİSE!!!

What ECU are you running ? And did you have problems with the JE pistons ? What crank are you running ? What boost ?

What injectors ?

Why only 7000 rpm ?

1-standard ecu,
2-no problems with the JE pistons,
3-standard crank,
4-standard injectors,
5-low 1.2 bar;high 1.3 bar using HKS EVC4.
6-because the engine cuts at 7200rpm.and reaches 280km/hr.at 7000rpm.at the speedometer.

And just out of interest what water/oil temperature are you actually getting ? Before and after would be useful. I think you might get some views then. The "bottom levels" of the in car water temp guage could be as low as 55 deg and as high as 75 deg C so its difficult to say. Have you left the coolant thermostst out ?

Bob,
water temp is at c-bottom levels even if it
is on just bellow middle in slow traffic.Oil
is at 60 deg.Coolant thermost is on.Actually İ changed it with a new one.But NO DİFFERENCE
During summer water temp. was on just bellow
middle levels.

If your thermostat is working, you could have a knackered gauge, get it checked.

if your guage is working, you could have a knackered thermostat.

running the engine too cold will wear it quicker, even though it will give slightly more power.

Hako,
Presuming the Subaru has a eletrical temp sender unit on the block, you could try changing that also.

As a test for the gauge, (if the set up is the same as mainstream Fords) disconnect the temp sender wire from the sender on the engine, and with the ignition switched on, Earth the wire.

If the gauge is OK, it should shoot straight to the top of the scale.

NOTE ! you can only attempt this check if the temp sender works on an earthing circuit, with the sender being a resistor within that circuit.

I have justr re-read your post, and I don't see any mention of an OIL THERMOSTAT being fitted.
You SHOULD fit an in line thermostat in the feed/return pipes to the cooler, or use one of the fancy thermostat controlled sandwich plates, at the oil filter position.

If you do not fit an oil stat, your engine is going to run cooler than its requirements, at any time except possibly if you had it on a race track and were able to maintain high engine speeds/loads, and thereby increase the oil warm up time, and as a consequence increase the wear on the engine.

I would expect the company that supplied the oil cooler should be able to supply an oil stat.

Your profile doesn't specify where you are from, but in the UK, places like Demon Tweeks, Rally Equipe, Burton Performance Products, Minisport, etc etc would be able to supply them.
Two companies in the UK, Serck and Mocal (Think Automotive) used to manufacture them, but I don't know if they still do.

According to a 1999 Burton catalogue I have, they sell Mocal oil stats, and thermoblocks (a thermostatically controlled sandwhich plate).
Their oil stats are all set to open at 80 Deg Centigrade, which is higher than the oil temperature you are currently running.
